Bainbridge Island, WA (May 20, 2017)  Terry Arndt, a career transition expert, author, speaker and coach, will speak on June 13, 2017 at the AICPA Practitioners Symposium and TECH+ Conference hosted by the American Institute of CPAs, the world’s largest member organization representing the accounting profession.

Arndt will speak on the recruiting student veterans. In particular, the unique and diverse skills student veterans possess that employers are seeking, as well as why its common for employers to overlook this population of recruits. Arndt will also share how employers can partner with their local/regional campuses to become a first-stop for top student veteran interns and recruit candidates.

“Employers, particularly small/mid-sized businesses, are constantly challenged with recruiting top talent” stated Arndt. “A common complaint employers have regarding recruiting from colleges is that students lack experience and struggle with soft skills. What they often don’t realize is that one of the largest growing segments on campus today are student veterans – students that have an incredible list of skills and experiences, as well as direct work experience employers are seeking. Combine that with a college degree and you have the ideal candidate” added Arndt.

As President of College Transition Publishing and Veteran Transition Publishing, Arndt has spoken at numerous professional conferences and trade events regarding the transition from college to the workforce, including the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), National Career Development Association (NCDA), League for Innovations in the Community College, The American Institute of CPAs, Society for Human Resource Management, and several other industry specific organizations.
